For the fourth consecutive year, the Yukon Curling Association is pleased to partner with The Dominion of Canada General Insurance Company ('The Dominion')  in presenting the 2012 Dominion Curling Club Championships in the Yukon.

This event will be hosted in Whitehorse on the weekend of March 9-11, 2012. Each affiliated Curling Club in the Yukon Curling Association is eligible to have one men’s and one women's team represent their Club at this event. The Curling Club must notify the Yukon Curling Association by February 1, 2012 of their intention to send teams to this championship, with the names of the players representing your Club submitted by February 24, 2012.

There is a $120.00 registration fee for each team competing at The Dominion Curling Club Championships in the Yukon. 20% of the registration fees will be donated to the Canadian Paraplegic Association. This fee must be paid in advance to the Yukon Curling Association. Affiliated Curling Clubs are also encouraged to donate a portion of the registration fees at their Dominion Curling Club Championships to the Canadian Paraplegic Association.

One men’s team and one women's team who place first in The Dominion Curling Club  Championships in the Yukon will represent the territory at The 2012 Dominion Curling Club National Championships in November 2012 in Scarboro, ON.

The Dominion Curling Club Championship (Yukon) Eligibility:

In keeping with the spirit of The Dominion Curling Club National Championship eligibility, the event is formulated to support ordinary curlers and the development of curling across Canada.

  • The curling club represented by the team must be affiliated with the Yukon Curling Association
  • Each club will declare a men’s team and a women's team of 4 players that played together regularly, in a sanctioned club league in the most recent season, to represent the club as the men’s and women's club champions*
  • Each team will be allowed only one player who has placed in the top four places at a Men’s, Women’s, Junior, or Senior’s territorial event or a Grand Slam event in the current or previous four years.**
  • All games will be eight (8) ends with ties being decided by a full extra end.
  • A maximum of one replacement player from the club can play lead.
  • Each team will be allowed a maximum of 2 players under the age of 20, as of December 31st of the year prior to the championship (minimum age of 15 as of December 31st).
  • The Dominion has the sole authority to grant exceptions to these rules in extraordinary circumstances.

Registration form to print out for your convenience.

Rationale:

*Curling clubs (generally in rural parts of the territory) within the Yukon that have membership where four men or four women do not consistently play together through a complete season may form representative teams for their curling club accordingly. Larger membership curling clubs that do have regular league curling where membership of teams in those leagues is consistent, are expected to adhere to this rule as would be the case in other parts of Canada.

**This is reflective of and consistent with the spirit of the competition listed above.

Affiliated Curling Clubs are expected to liaise with the Yukon Curling Association to ensure that the determination of their representative teams at The Dominion Curling Club Championships (Yukon) is consistent and reflective of the above-noted eligibility.
